Resources for people who drive for a living…

I have been following this with some interest. Congestion and parking being the biggest grouses when you talk to motorists something that solves the problem is bound to be a good talking point!

Parking and car theft is hellish in Berlin, so when I saw the loft style apartments that allow you to park your car in the conservatory I was intrigued!

“It will also help make cities more attractive by getting rid of so many parked cars,” said Topos business manager Johannes Kauka . “Cars have become design statements, an expression of your lifestyle, So why not integrate them properly into your life?”

Thinking on this further, as a mum of three kids, I don’t have to park on the ground floor and hike the kids up the stairs with the shopping, unless of course the lift isn’t working.

It also makes parking safer, many car related crimes happen in the poorly lit garage.

How does CarLoft work?
You drive the car into a modified industrial elevator - the CarLift.
A computer-controlled transponder recognizes the car and knows to which floor it should be delivered automatically.
180 seconds later, you’ve reached your floor and can drive straight into the CarLoggia, your terrace-level parking space.
Standard floor plans allow some choice in how discreet or blaring your car’s presence is from indoors.

It’s so clever you can pre-program the lift to pick you up at regular times, avoiding the rush and that means no reason to queue, I wonder if they will dismantle this on the UK version? we Brits love to queue, it’s our national past time.

Nearly all German luxury vehicles fit the lift only the massive Mercedes Maybach, priced at half a million euros, doesn’t.

What I really would like to know is… whilst ascending to the top floor, do I get to look out of the window? And what happens if I forget to put on the handbrake 6 floors up?

Regards

Sarah
