Resources for people who drive for a living…

This Manhattan driver is using two phones at onceImage via WikipediaDAO, a term that could be life saving to couriers!

I have been talking with Romany Thresher from Direct Assist Online about virtual assistants and what they can do for couriers.

If you are an owner driver, with no partner to help you (or they don’t have the required skills) and you need to do paperwork but are not that brilliant at it, then a virtual assistant is a godsend!

Romany has explained to me they can invoice your customers using your system, respond to emails and queries and contact you to inform you if an email quote comes in, and you can advise them how to respond.

In other words, your admin can be done for you, as you go and not left in a heap for the weekend.

Romany has a quick questionnaire assessment that identifies what areas you need help in, and how many hours of your time can be saved using Direct Assist Online’s virtual assistants.

Feast and famine work scenarios need not happen as your DAO VA can send out your marketing materials whilst you are working and update your mailing lists, send out your email newsletters and keep in touch with your customers, on your behalf.

So, as usual I asked even more questions…
Sarah : Can a VA chase payments ie late invoices etc?
Romany: Yes a VA can most definitely chase payments and late invoices, etc.

Sarah: Can they login into our freight exchanges place return journeys and ring us and tell us of suitable backloads if they know our end destinations?
Romany: Yes, I don’t see why not it’s definitely possible. This means the driver isn’t on the mobile phone chasing work whilst driving and risking getting a £60 fine and three points on their licence.

Sarah: The prices - are they by the hour? how does it work - a minimum number of hours?
Romany: There are no minimum hours. If you only need us for 1 hour, then that is fine. Hourly rates are more expensive than a retainer package and we can tailor package deals to suit your needs.

So there we have it, a VA is definitely on my most wanted list. They can save us time and money and do the bits we don’t enjoy or lack the skills for.

That really is working smarter, not harder :-)
