Resources for people who drive for a living…

Business banking is something that couriers like to get their teeth into, and every now and then we find something exceptional. Yesterday Sarah spoke to Rob from Business Mule, and this is what he said.

“Our story is pretty simple really. My business partner Ryan O’Neill and I had worked in business banking together at The Co-operative Bank for many years as marketing managers and we identified a gap in the market to create a service that would help people involved with small businesses make more informed choices about their banking providers.

It’s a really daunting and complicated market and you can often pick a bank account that seems okay on the surface but is full of hidden extras when you start to look in to it.

Our service is very much intended to act in the best interests the business person, not the banks. We’re really proud of the site as it’s user friendly and saves people so much time when looking for bank accounts and other services.

To finance the site, Ryan and I volunteered for redundancy to provide us with some capital and also some time to develop the site.

So here we are, two ex business banking marketers, offering a service that can help people in small business to make more informed decisions in what is a really important area for them.”

With bank charges and fees increasing all the time, I can see that Business Mule is in the right place at the right time, but will people change banks for a better deal?

The oft quoted saying is, people find it easier change their spouse than change their bank. With banks showing no mercy in the time of the credit crunch, perhaps it’s time for us small businesses to look for a better deal.

Check out Business Mule, feel free to leave me a comment and let me know what you think.
